Queensland Itch

Queensland Itch

Queensland itch is an allergic skin-disease. Some horses are allergic to the saliva in the bite of insects such as midges. This will result in localised irritation which will cause the horse to scratch or rub on anything it can get access to! This in turn leads to hair loss, skin damage and even open wounds depending on the severity of the reaction. Botanica's Anti-Itch cream has been specially formulated to combat this condition and combined use with the Botanica Cleansing Wash will immediately stop the itching and provide instant relief.

The results speak for themselves...

Those of you who have animals that suffer from QLD itch will dread the summer months, particularly the further north in Australia you are. Debilitating and unsightly, this condition has been creating huge problems for owners with nothing effective on the market to treat it long term. Help is at hand at last!

Prevention is always the best cure! Botanica's Anti-Itch cream can prevent the horse or pony from getting itch if treated early before the insects get a chance to do their worst.

After a wash with your regular shampoo to remove any dirt or dead skin, we recommend applying the diluted cleansing wash with a spray bottle to the affected areas. This ensures maximum coverage and penetration into the skin. Remember do not rinse off! This will clam the area immediately as the tea tree and lavender do their job.

Then massage in the Anti-itch cream which will allow the healing process to begin and promote hair regrowth.

We recommend applying the treatment 2 or 3 times a week  for 2 weeks during spring, before the condition gets too bad and the itching begins. Then again as summer starts, use daily for 2 weeks. Repeat treatment again half way through the season and this will provide protection from itch for the full year to come!

Backed by vets and used by Olympians right through to your weekend happy hacker, you can rest assured that your horse no longer has to suffer from Queensland itch anymore. We promise.
